So it is already the 4th week of school and ever since the second week I've been busy as hell. I made goals to join some things but now I've decided I don't have time for them. I still can't understand how school can be so much work. What happened to my social life? What happened to seeing my friends? What happened to actually enjoying school? Ive considered many times of switching my major, but to what? I have no clue. So for now  I just stick with it. Somehow though... the hard classes and the hw until 2 in the morning and the constant being away from my apartment from 8 am every morning until 5 or 9 or 11 pm or like yesterday until 2 am doesn't seem to make sense to me. I don't understand how professors can give you hw for each week that is about 20 pages long!!!! I hate stupid Chemical Engineering but at the same time I find it interesting I just hate the hard work and the no social life... I know I know.... This entry is all about complaining and I'm sorry for that. On a sidenote, what happened to people and things this year? I feel like this year has all been about change, good and bad. (school=bad).

Angel
from Surfacing (1997)
also found on Mirrorball (1999)
spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there

so tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lie
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

When you try your best but you don't succeed

When you get what you want but not what you need

When you feel so tired but you can't sleep

Stuck in reverse

When the tears come streaming down your face

When you lose something you can't replace

When you love someone but it goes to waste

could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home

and ignite your bones

And I will try to fix you

Peace everyone... Im outta here

P.S. Why do I set such high standards for myself when I can't achieve them?

School is very draining, but I'm glad I have really great friends that always make me happy when I see them.  I can't wait to go home for break and see my family and friends and just relax. A break will be well deserved. Much love to everyone.

I haven't updated in awhile. Lately, I've been working and hanging out. Work is pretty good... all the people I work with are really nice and fun to be around for the most part. The only person that I don't truly like to be around is the one manager Tony. He reminds me of a clown. Oh well. Speaking of work at Hobby Lobby, this week I asked to work the late shift on monday and then today when I go in and look at the schedule I'm working 8-4 on monday and 9-1:30 on Wednesday. That is only 12 hours!!! What the heck??? Everysince I started working there I was working 23-24 hours and never less than that. And the other cashiers are working 7.5 hours, 12 hours, 13 hours and then the head cashier is working 35 hours. What the heck. So then i go up to Vicki and ask if I can change or what not with anohter person for monday.. my excuse was that I had a doctor's appointment at 12:30. Instead she gets the other manager up there and they discuss it and instead of switching with someone, I end up getting a long lunch that day which is useless to me considering I dont have a car. AHHHH oh well. 12 hours this week.. I'm free tuesday, thursday, friday and saturday if anyone wants to do anything and then next week I  only work monday and tuesday. Then I'm done. Oh, I forgot when I asked Vicki about telling Scott about my appointment she was like this isnt the first time Scott has scheduled someone to work on a day they weren't suppose to. oh well. That is enough of an update. Less than 12 days until U of Izzy.

I forgot to mention I got a job at Hobby Lobby. I went in for an interview on friday and the manager-Scott- loved me. He said I could talk very well. hehe. I start wednesday so come and visit.

ok, so this past week and a half has been a lot of fun despite some little things. But it is all good. Last friday, Becca came to visit again and then we headed over to tommyboys house for a mexican dinner with him, carl and joe. It was delicious. Very good job on the cooking! I can't wait to go to your apartment- tom for those mexican fiestas. Later that night Becca got to experience the Tom's most famous booty dancing. It was excellent tom! I enjoyed it a lot. The next day- Saturday- I spent the day cleaning up my house and my room because Erin was coming to town! She came in about 5:30 pm and then we headed over to potbelly's and I showed her downtown naperville and Central and the outside of Ribfest. Then we headed back to my house and proceeded to play dreamphone with David and Joe but it stopped working once david tried calling Dale. Too bad. That would have been a fun game. Later, we were joined by Tom, ang and Gabby and watched Bridget Jones. Too bad we didnt get to see our screwed up quiz results. hehe. The next day, Erin and I woke up early to catch the 10:33 express train to Chicago for the taste. We got to the taste at 11:30 and had to wait about an hour for everyone else to get there. I saw a couple of my girls on my floor and then after pobably about ten minutes we all went our different ways. For the whole day it was me, erin, laura and becca. We had so much fun. After the taste we went shopping and it took us forever to find forever 21.... booo. For dinner we ate at Houlighans (spelling?) and our waiter wouldn't leave us alone. He kept stopping by our table every five minutes. It was great! Then we went back to the Taste to watch to fireworks. They were amazing. Then back home. Oh by the way, thanks for the nickname of mama hen. hehe. The next day was the 4th and I had a bbq at my house. Very yummy food and good guests. Erin, becca and laura came too along with my Napervillian friends. Then we went to Brian's house for the fireworks which were amazing again. We had a great view although sometimes it was a bit loud. The next day was ZOO time with Tom, Ang, Gab and Joe. I loved all the pooing that was going on. For my details you can look at Joes xanga. The next day my friend from Kansas, Laura came to visit. She stayed until yesterday. I  love when she comes to visit and I'm so glad that we are still so close despite her moving sophomore year. On saturday was Joanna's birthday where a bunch of us went to the dunes and then to dinner. I had an excellent time. I loved the clay pit despite getting all scratched up. Jess, Gabby, Carl, Joe and I all went to the clay and got covered in it!!! People took a lot of pictures if you want to see. That is the update of this past week. Thanks to all of my friends for the many great memories. I've had a wonderful past week. I'm so grateful for all that I have and all of my great friends. The end of this week will be sad though because Kit will be leaving us again and David will be leaving to Florida and won't be back until maybe christmas break.  I'm going to miss David's family a lot. They are such wonderful people. I can't wait to visit. It is sad to see so many people moving. But hopefully I will spend a lot of time with David before he moves and see Kit a couple of times before he goes back to Missouri.

Lots of love to you all and hope everyone is enjoying their summer.

Jen.

Here is one of my favorite poems. I'm not sure why I like it so much but it is good!

If
by Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!

I just thought this was funny...

What Not To Say To The Police

Author Unknown

1. I can't reach my license unless you hold my beer. (OK in Texas)

2. Sorry, Officer, I didn't realize my radar detector wasn't plugged in.

3.Aren't you the guy from the Village People?

4. Hey, you must've been doin' about 125 mph to keep up with me. Good job!

5. Are You Andy or Barney?

6. I thought you had to be in relatively good physical condition to be a police officer.

7. You're not gonna check the trunk, are you?

8. I pay your salary!

9. Gee, Officer! That's terrific. The last officer only gave me a warning, too!

10. Do you know why you pulled me over? Okay, just so one of us does.

11. I was trying to keep up with traffic. Yes, I know there are no other cars around. That's how far ahead of me they are.

12. When the Officer says "Gee Son....Your eyes look red, have you been drinking?" You probably shouldn't respond with,"Gee Officer your eyes look glazed, have you been eating doughnuts?"

Lastly, here are two more quotes I like.

 "nothing important, or meaningful, or beautiful, or interesting, or great ever came out of imitations. The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself."

Never waste a minute of your precious life by squandering it thinking about people you don't like.
